The Artist Statement for The Exhibition

 

 

Here or there

 

I am a student of photography in IADT Dun Laoghaire. In my work I am drawn to conserving links to the past: old architecture, forgotten places, but also the opposite. I photograph things that are ephemeral like shadows, reflections, rays of light, which depend purely on the short lasting effect of light. My work concentrates on visually interesting forms and textures through which I am trying to communicate my view of the world to the world itself. This project was informed by my sense of identity and the word home. As I am a person who came originally from the Czech republic and lives in a foreign country for the last twelve years. It is also about the way of life I have chosen and which would not be for everyone.
